Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to explain.

Welcome to The Fibonaccis official home, a digital resurrection of The Fibonaccis’ music prompted by the 40th anniversary of the first Fibonaccis live performance in downtown Los Angeles at Al’s Bar on June 6, 1981. The music we recorded in 1986 for the film TerrorVision is available separately from WRWTFWW Records.

The Fibonaccis rose out of the early-'80s art punk scene in Los Angeles, drawing from a wide range of ideas and influences. We took our name from Leonardo Fibonacci, the 14th century Italian mathematician. The band retired in 1988 but exhumed itself briefly for a CD retrospective release party in 1992.

In 2021, two digital albums were released and made available worldwide—the fí-bō-nă-chēz/Tumor EPs with ten tracks from the first two vinyl EPs, featuring songs sequenced in their original order and cover art based on Skot Armstrong’s design—and Civilization and Its Discotheques, which duplicates the original sequencing of the vinyl LP and its cover painting by artist Ed Nunnery.

In 2022, The Fibonaccis opened their archives and released two more digital albums—More Monkey Tricks: 1981-1984 and Peccadilloes: 1985-1988. These 2022 releases have a total of 49 tracks consisting of live radio shows, club rarities, and demos that were either never released before or were previously released in another form. Manga!
